DEMOGRAPHICS

The Gila River Indian Community is a 372,000 acre, sovereign nation located adjacent to the Phoenix Metropolitan area and includes properties in both Maricopa and Pinal Counties.  The Community is the ancestral and permanent home of the Akimel O’otham and Pee Posh, also known as the Pima and Maricopa.

Total enrollment is 21,300, with current population at approximately 13,967.  Median household income is $24,368 with over 66% of the population having a high school diploma or higher education.

Minutes from downtown Phoenix, the Community is easily accessible from I-10, Loop 202 San Tan freeway, Loop 101 Price Freeway and US 60.   Additionally, the town of Maricopa and the SanTan areas are accessible via SR347 and SR87 which run through the Community.

Business located within the Community draw from the neighboring Metro Phoenix Area Communities, the  Town of Maricopa and the City of Casa Grande.  Immediately adjacent communities boast better than median household income and total more than 2 ½ million in population.
